LIHU‘E — The Kaua‘i Police Department is urging businesses to be pro-active and take crime prevention measures particularly in light of the recent incidents of burglaries and attempted burglaries involving safes around the island, a county news release said Wednesday.
LIHU‘E — The Kaua‘i Police Department is urging businesses to be pro-active and take crime prevention measures particularly in light of the recent incidents of burglaries and attempted burglaries involving safes around the island, a county news release said Wednesday.
The most recent attempted burglary involving a store safe occurred Tuesday night on the South Shore. Culprits apparently tried to open and remove the safe, but were unsuccessful.
“Any business with a visible safe on their premises should keep a minimum amount of cash on hand,” said Assistant Chief Roy Asher. “I recommend that businesses make nightly deposits or at the conclusion of their daily operations.”
Another crime prevention measure Asher suggested is the installation of either interior and/or video surveillance systems.
For secluded areas, he said that having a security guard service would serve as a deterrent.
