LIHU‘E — The Kaua‘i Police Department asked for the public’s help with information regarding recent elderly theft cases in a Tuesday press release.
Over the last two weeks, police have received several reports of senior citizens in various parts of the island being solicited for home repairs or services by two or three women, according to the release.
In one case, a deposit was given to the women, but they did not return to do the work.
In another case, the women were invited into the home, and unbeknownst to the victim, they stole cash and jewelry while they were guests in the home.
“It’s always disheartening to hear of our elderly being victimized,” said Assistant Chief Roy Asher in the release. “We are doing our best to solve these cases, and would like to ask the public for their assistance.”
