LIHU‘E — Local and visiting oncologists discuss the latest in cancer care and treatment at a free gathering Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon at the Wilcox Memorial Hospital first-floor conference rooms, a press release states.
November is Cancer Care Month, and Wilcox Health presents several free events.
“Cancer Care: What’s New in 2010” is Saturday’s event, moderated by Dr. Gus Rushanaedy of Kaua‘i Medical Clinic and featuring experts from Kapi‘olani Medical Center for Women and Children, Straub Clinic & Hospital, Pali Momi Medical Center and Kaua‘i Medical Clinic.
Rushanaedy is a board-certified urologist. His professional interests include endourology, cryotherapy for cancer treatment, minimally invasive surgery for incontinence, prostate disease and bladder dysfunction.
In his medical practice, he employs a holistic approach and emphasizes educating patients about prevention and the maintenance of a healthy lifestyle.
The conference is sent to Kaua‘i via video conferencing and Kaua‘i residents can hear experts on O‘ahu talk about the newest cancer research and treatment, and have their questions answered.
Kaua‘i oncologists Dr. C. Galen Choy and Dr. Aileen Denny are two of the presenters, along with Dr. Michael Carney, Sally Belles, registered dietitian, and Dr. James Kakuda.
There will be light refreshments, and Rushanaedy will answer questions and refer questions to the speakers.
