HONOLULU — Kaua‘i Toastmasters Club President Donna Olivas-Kaohi recently received an Outstanding Toastmaster award at the District 49 Conference on O‘ahu, a news release states.
In her nomination it was observed that Olivas-Kaohi is “hard working, caring, supportive, reliable, timely, organized, enthusiastic, and communicative.”
Kaua‘i County Councilwoman and Toastmaster JoAnn Yukimura said, “She’s a leader in so many ways — she knows how to run a meeting, give a great speech, encourage and support others, do the work of the organization so that others may learn and flourish, and she does personal development ongoingly, including … having fun!”
Kaua‘i Toastmasters is part of Toastmasters International, a nonprofit dedicated to helping people overcome their fear of public speaking and improve their communication and leadership skills.
Meetings are held from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. on the second and fourth Monday of each month at the Liquor Control Conference Room 3 at the Mo‘ikeha Building in Lihu‘e.
