PUHI — In a time when everyone is cutting back, the Kaua‘i Government Employees Federal Credit Union has instead added another scholarship, said Lisa Murphy of the KGEFCU Marketing Division.
Friday, four of the 2011 KGEFCU scholarship recipients and their parents were hosted to a luncheon at 22 North in the Kilohana Estates where they accepted their scholarships.
Rachel Coyaso, Destiny Lynn Martin-Lazaro, Ira Lapitan and Mason Chock Jr. has each been designated to receive $1,000 scholarships, Murphy said.
Coyaso, who will be graduating Waimea High School, Friday, has already been accepted to the University of Hawai‘i at Manoa for the fall semester where she plans on pursuing a pre-psychology general study.
Martin-Lazaro, another Waimea High School senior, has been admitted to the Mesa State College where she is looking at a course of study in Pre-Radiologic Sciences.
Lapitan will be among the graduating seniors at Kaua‘i High School, Friday at Vidinha Stadium. She has been accepted at the Portland State University, looking at attaining a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work.
Chock, a senior at Kamehameha Schools, Kapalama, has been offered admission to the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington.
He was selected for admission from more than 7,000 applicants with a course of study in Environmental Sciences.
