George Texeira
George Texeira of Hanamaulu, Kaua‘i, died on June 21, 2011, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 89. Born on August 22, 1921, in Lihu‘e, he was a supervisor at Lihu‘e Plantation.
He is preceded in death by parents, Louis and Mary Texeira, and sisters Mary Carreira and Helen Rego.
He is survived by his wife, Rose Marie Texeira of Hanamaulu; son, George E. (Jo Ann) Texeira of Hanamaulu; daughter, Charlotte (Rankin) Telles of Hanamaulu; numerous nieces and nephews; 6 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 29, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lihu‘e, with visitation held at 8:30 a.m. Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens.
Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary, Koloa.
Steven Roush
Steven Terrence Roush died April 29, 2011, in Santa Monica, Calif. after a courageous two-year battle with melanoma. He was born on May 9, 1955, in Chula Vista, Calif.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in parks and recreation administration from SDSU in 1977 and worked as a state lifeguard on Silver Strand Beach, Calif. before moving to Kaua‘i in 1977. He had established a well regarded landscaping and nursery business on the north shore of Kaua‘i and was an accomplished surfer as well as an outstanding fisherman and free diver. He served on the Board of Directors for Na ‘Aina Kai Botanical Gardens on Kaua‘i for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; daughters, Serina and Michelle; parents, Hiram and Beverly; brother, Rick (Anne); sister, Sheryl, as well as numerous friends and relatives.
A celebration of life potluck will start at 2 p.m. on June 25 at Hanalei Bay by “Grandpa’s Beach” off Ana‘e Road.

Austin Barretto
Austin James Kichizo Liona O‘Ka‘aina Barretto of Kapa‘a died June 1, 2011, at age 22. Born in Lihu‘e on July 26, 1988, he was a maintenance worker at Princeville Ranch.
He is survived by his daughter, Siana Bactad-Barretto; son, Kekona Bactad-Barretto; girlfriend, Shawna Kalani; mother of his children, Kelly Bactad; mother, Lori Barretto; step-father, Gerry (Cheryl) Coyaso; sister, Ashley (Tyson) Relacion; brother, Adam Coyaso; step-brother, Chase Coyaso; maternal grandfather, Alfred “Tony” Barretto; maternal grandmother, Cherle “Ipo” (Kimo) Kaholokula; nieces, Taylor Relacion, Teja Rita and Kaileah Latu; nephew, Cody Relacion; Aunt Sonya (Greg) Stoll; Aunt Jolin Barretto; Uncle Shane Barretto; cousins, Sheena (Delbert) Tuazon, Sade, Aaron, Anson and Shawn Villatora; Ekolu and Bronson Ramos and Jolie Barretto-Valmoja; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
A celebration of his life will be held from 9 to 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 25, with lunch to follow at Lydgate Park (South Comfort Station).
Casual attire is suggested.
Manly Anderson
Manly Anderson of Puhi died on June 16, 2011, at his home at the age of 68. Born on March 3, 1943, in Honolulu, he was a construction equipment operator.
He is survived by his son, Manly Anderson Jr.; daughter, Lydia Iwalani Anderson; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brothers, Francis Anderson; Andrew Anderson and Melvin (Puna) Anderson; sisters, Dorcas Reyes and Carrie Mittchel and daughter-in-law, Cheryl Kaehu.
Scattering of ashes will be held between 11 a.m. to noon on Saturday, June 25, at the 1st buoy at Nawiliwili Harbor, followed by a luncheon at his residence at 4411 Mua Street in Puhi.
Arrangements are being handled by Garden Island Mortuary.
