LIHU‘E — In an effort to create a formalized community outreach effort, Mayor Bernard Carvalho Jr. announced this week that he will hold four community meetings in August.
“Our administration needs to be accessible to the public and maintain a consistent and productive dialogue,” the mayor said in a news release. “Every year, my cabinet and I will hold a meeting at each of our eight neighborhood centers, and hope to attend one meeting of the six formalized community associations on Kaua‘i.”
The first round of meetings will be held as follows:
· Tuesday, Aug. 16, Kilauea Neighborhood Center
· Wednesday, Aug. 17, Waimea Neighborhood Center
· Tuesday, Aug. 23, Lihu‘e Neighborhood Center
· Wednesday, Aug. 24, Kalaheo Neighborhood Center
All meetings will run from 6 to 8 p.m. and will include a Holo Holo 2020 update from the mayor, and reports on island wide and regional projects of interest, the release states.
In February 2012, the mayor and his cabinet will conduct outreach at neighborhood centers in Kapa‘a, Koloa, Hanapepe and Kekaha. The mayor is also scheduling appearances at the Hanalei-Ha‘ena Community Association, Kilauea Neighborhood Association, Wailua-Kapa‘a Neighborhood Association, Hanama‘ulu Community Association, Koloa Community Association and E Ola Mau O Kekaha throughout the year.
