LIHU‘E — Authorities on Tuesday apprehended a Hanama‘ulu man on suspicion of a Lihu‘e hotel burglary, the county announced Friday.
Police arrested Pohaku Matsuura, 34, for second-degree burglary, along with multiple counts of second-degree forgery and unauthorized possession of personal and confidential information.
The burglary reportedly occurred sometime between midnight and 5 a.m. Tuesday at Kaua‘i Palms Hotel. Police identified and located the suspect that same day and then notified detectives, who are continuing the investigation.
“Police are still investigating the exact location(s) that he may have unlawfully entered within the hotel and are still taking inventory of items stolen,” county spokeswoman Sarah Blane said Friday. “No monetary value has yet been assessed.”
Matsuura was arrested on Aug. 18 — for second-degree theft (two counts), resisting arrest, second-degree forgery (three counts), ID theft, unauthorized information (two counts) and third-degree theft — and released on bail, according to The Garden Island’s archives.
Matsurra also made Kaua‘i’s Most Wanted list in October 2009 and was arrested the following month.
Police are currently holding Matsuura in lieu of $100,000 bail.
