HONOLULU — Kaua‘i state lawmakers will host a Kaua‘i Community Forum for all county residents at the Aston Aloha Beach Hotel in the Ali‘i Room today at 5 p.m., according to a press release from the state House of Representatives.
HONOLULU — Kaua‘i state lawmakers will host a Kaua‘i Community Forum for all county residents at the Aston Aloha Beach Hotel in the Ali‘i Room today at 5 p.m., according to a press release from the state House of Representatives.
On the agenda will be a presentation from the House Committee Finance Chair Marcus Oshiro on how the state budget was balanced. A question and answer session will follow. The Department of Transportation’s Highways Kaua‘i District Engineer, Ray McCormick, will also have a display of upcoming highway projects on Kaua‘i and will be available to the community for questions.
Kaua‘i Representatives Derek Kawakami, D-14th District, Dee Morikawa, D-16th District, and James Tokioka, D-15th District, are sponsoring the event and will also be there to answer questions and speak with residents about their concerns.
“This is a great opportunity for all Kaua‘i residents to engage with the House Finance Chair Marcus Oshiro on the state budget,” Tokioka said. “We encourage all residents to attend and greatly appreciate your thoughts and comments.”
“The state has a number of projects planned that will improve traffic flow on our highways,” Morikawa said. “We’ll hear from DOT officials about what work is scheduled and when they will start and end, as well as how construction work may affect your commute.”
“These projects will improve the safety for our residents and eventually save motorists’ time and money,” Kawakami said.
Other committee members will also attend, including Representatives Pono Chong, Isaac Choy, Ty Cullen, Sharon Har, Jo Jordan, Gil Riviere, and Kyle Yamashita.
