KAPA‘A — Friends of the Kapa‘a Public Library will host its Fall Blowout book sale starting at 5 p.m., Sept. 30.
“This is the same time as the Kapa‘a Businessmen’s Association Coconut Festival so people can come and shop starting Friday evening,” said Lani Kawahara, Kapa‘a Public Library librarian. “We’ll also be open during the Coconut Festival and people can just come over.”
The Kapa‘a Public Library is located adjacent to the Kapa‘a Beach Park where the Coconut Festival will take place on Oct. 1 and 2.
The Friends of Kapa‘a Public Library will have its doors to the book sale open from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. on both Oct. 1 and 2. Hours for the Sept. 30 opening are from 5 to 8 p.m.
Volunteers for the event are also welcomed for the three-day sale.
New and slightly-used fiction and nonfiction titles, including a selection of Hawaiiana books, children’s books, romances, mysteries, history, travel, reference, literature, cookbooks, DVDs, CDs and more are currently packed in boxes, but ready to be set out for the sale.
“Hawaiiana coffee table books are always popular and we’ll have some on sale for this event,” Kawahara said. “The coffee table books, or big books, are popular, especially the Hawaiiana ones, and these should go fast so people should shop early for best selections.”
Proceeds from the booksale will go towards purchasing new library materials and equipment, Kawahara said.
