LIHU‘E — The county Department of Public Works has scheduled two community meetings next month to gather input on design alternatives that would improve the Kapahi, Opaeka‘a and Pu‘uopae bridges.
The first meeting will be held on Dec. 7 at the Wailua Homesteads Park pavilion. During this meeting, the Opaeka‘a and Pu‘uopae bridges will be discussed.
The second meeting is scheduled on Dec. 8 at the Kapa‘a Middle School cafeteria. The Kapahi Bridge will be covered at this meeting.
Both meetings will begin at 6:30 p.m., a county news release states.
In October, the county’s consultant, KAI Hawai‘i, began preliminary studies on the project, including geotechnical studies and land surveying, which are expected to be completed by the end of December. The data collected will be used for design alternatives to improve the bridges.
