LIHU‘E — Repeat theft and drug charges brought a prison term without probation for a Hanapepe woman.
Alicia Rose Kuuipo Kilpatrick, 27, was sentenced Thursday in 5th Circuit Court to a five-year prison term for a second-degree theft arrest last June.
The sentencing follows a Nov. 17 guilty plea and runs concurrent with a five-year sentence on methamphetamine and criminal property damage charges that violated her probation.
Despite the previous convictions, Kilpatrick was still eligible for a strict level of drug court, according to deputy public defender Christian Enright. He said that probation with structure was appropriate because the crimes were related to her addiction.
County deputy prosecutor John Murphy said the state recommended the five-year sentence. The state also recommended against a request for supervised release in December. That was denied.
Chief Judge Randal Valenciano said the defendant had failed in treatment and had a previous parole violation.
The five-year sentence is less than the maximum 20-year extended sentence for the two felony charges. Kilpatrick will get credit for time served since Aug. 29, when she was arrested.
In 2004, Kilpatrick received a six-month jail term and five years’ probation in a plea deal on two cases involving methamphetamine charges in 2003. She was re-sentenced to the five-year term in 2005 for violating probation.
I still see kilpatrick doing the same thing. and it scared us specially for my kids in the future. she still selling that crystal thing and i suspected that shes using too. please help to prevent this.
that’s absolutely true they must check on her. i see her too sometimes with her gangs. and i notice that they are doing some illegal. KPD must know this.
