The couple are the February recipients of the Neighborhood Pride Award given by the Wailua-Kapa‘a Neighborhood Association.
Their rimlot acre on Kihei Road in Wailua Houselots is landscaped in a “wild English garden” style, but with tropical plants.
There are plantings of avocado, papaya and bananas amid a random rainbow array of plants and flowers. The two resident Westies, Kimi and Lulu, really enjoy patrolling the yard with its view of Coco Palms, Wailua and the ocean.
The tall man with “The Godfather” voice suffered sulfuric acid mist exposure at his job in Colorado. He lost one vocal chord to cancer. In 2006, he got a job transfer to O‘ahu, and Rose Anne became executive director of the Hawai‘i Craftsman Statewide Arts program.
The Joneses have jumped into retirement with energy and artistic talent.
They are involved with the Art in Public Places program and the Kaua‘i Society of Artists. In addition, Robb is a finalist this year in the prestigious Schaeffer Portrait Challenge held on Maui.
