LIHU‘E — Applications for The Community Gift Giving Program from Young Brothers Ltd. and Hawaiian Tug and Barge grants are available to nonprofit community organizations on Kaua‘i.
The Community Gift Giving program will award grants of up to $3,000 per organization.
Application forms and information are available at www.youngbrothershawaii.com, or at the HTB/YB office on Kaua‘i at 3020 Wa‘apa Rd. in Nawiliwili.
Deadline for applications is 4 p.m. July 13. Applications will be reviewed in November.
Applications can be dropped off at the Nawiliwili office or faxed to (808) 246-1021.
Eligible organizations must be 501(c)(3) nonprofits, and the purpose of the organization must be related to health, education, civic and community service, youth activities, cultural enrichment environment and special community projects.
The HTB/YB community gift giving program was established in 2001 to provide recognition and support to charitable community organizations on each island.
Since its inception, the program has contributed more than $699,000 to 743 nonprofit organizations throughout the Hawai‘i, including $177,650 to 182 Kaua‘i organizations.
Young Brothers provides inter-island cargo service throughout the Hawai‘i with ports on Kaua‘i, O‘ahu, the Big Island, Moloka‘i, Lanai and Maui.
HTB provides contract towing services, ship assists, barge charters and related marine services throughout the state.
Kaua‘i County Community Advisory Board members include Chair Wanda Shibata, Jim McDowall, Eldean Scott and Millie Wellington.
