HONOLULU — Kaua‘i County Farm Bureau members met with state lawmakers on Thursday as part of 2012 Agricultural Awareness Day.
The Kaua‘i County Farm Bureau provided a “Kaua‘i Grown” exhibit which featured flowers, produce, plants, honey, coffee, keeshir tea, dried bananas and jam. The Kaua‘i Grown exhibit was one of 39 exhibits, which included companies, statewide government agencies and organizations participating in the sponsored event.
“The annual Agricultural Awareness Day at the State Capitol provides a unique opportunity for legislators and the public to meet farmers and organizations integral to the agricultural industry,” state Sen. Ron Kouchi, D-Kaua‘i and Ni‘ihau, said a news release.
This year’s Agricultural Awareness Day was sponsored by the Hawai‘i Farm Bureau Federation, along with the Hawai‘i Food Industry Association, Hawai‘i Food Manufacturers Association, Hawai‘i Restaurant Association, Hawai‘i Cattlemen’s Council, Hawai‘i Department of Agriculture and the University of Hawai‘i at Manoa College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources.
