Employees of the Lihu‘e branch of American Savings Bank presented an aloha plaque signed by each employee to the Kaua‘i United Way Friday.
American Savings Bank presented the plaque to mark a 79 percent employee participation rate, a corporate dollar-for-dollar match and a major corporate gift from its parent company, Hawaiian Electric Industries, in this year’s Kaua‘i United Way fundraising drive.
“Each year, American Savings Bank seems to come up with a creative way to boost the Kaua‘i United Way Annual Campaign,” said Scott Giarman, executive director for Kaua‘i United Way. “This year, they really came through once again.
The 2012 Kaua‘i United way campaign closed at 97 percent of its increased goal, raising more money than the prior year’s successful campaign, states news release.
The 2013 campaign, co-chaired by Doug Sears, general manager of the Grand Hyatt Kaua‘i Resort and Spa, and Ron Wiley, the on-air personality for KQNG Radio Group, will launch before Labor Day, according to the release.
“We’re doing a lot,” Sears said. “But we know there is a lot more we need to do.”
