WAILUA — County officials on Friday announced automated refuse collection will begin in Wailua Houselots next month.
Solid Waste staff will be going door to door on May 5 delivering specially designed refuse carts and brochures explaining how the program works, a county news release states. Automated services for Wailua customers will begin on May 10.
Schedules for trash pickup will change for 5,000 customers starting the week of May 7, and residents will be notified in advance by mail, the release states.
The 700 Wailua Houselots homes that will soon have automated collections are the first of 9,818 households on Kaua‘i that will be making the transition in services, the release states, representing a little less than half of the households on the island.
