LIHU‘E — The County of Kaua’i Office of the Prosecuting Attorney announced the indictments from the March and April 2012 Grand Jury Sessions.
The Grand Jury returned a nine count indictment against Philip Papagayo Jr., alleging that on April 30, 2009, he committed two counts of first-degree reckless endangering, six counts of first-degree terroristic threatening, and a place to keep a firearm other than a pistol or revolver.
Papagayo is accused of firing a rifle in a manner that placed individuals in danger of death or serious bodily injury and by making threats by word or conduct with the intent to terrorize. The court issued a bench warrant for Papagayo’s arrest and set bail in the amount of $50,000.
A five-count indictment against William K. Puulei alleges that on Oct. 13, 2011, he committed first-degree robbery, second degree robbery, attempted third-degree extortion and two counts of first-degree terroristic threatening.
Puulei is accused of taking property with the use or threat of force, and threatening others while armed with a knife. He was arraigned on April 4 and remains in custody at Kaua‘i Community Correctional Center with bail set at $20,000.
A six-count indictment against Kurt Ventura alleges that on March 12 he committed three counts each of first-degree promoting a harmful drug along with unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.
Ventura, 36, of Kilauea, was arrested on April 3 and released on $18,000 bail.
An indictment of first-degree terroristic threatening against Daniel Kiilau-Pezario alleges that on June 4, 2010, he threatened bodily injury to another while armed with a knife.
Kiilau-Pezario, 20, of Anahola, was arrested on March 23 and remains in custody at Kaua‘i Community Correctional Center. Bail is set at $5,000, and the case is scheduled for jury trial on Aug. 6.
A six-count indictment against Matthew Jeremy Warner alleges that on Feb. 25, he committed harassment and three counts of first-degree terroristic threatening. He is also charged with keeping a pistol or revolver in an unauthorized place, and prohibited ownership or possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person convicted of certain crimes
Warner, 40, of Kapa‘a, is accused of threatening individuals while armed with a firearm, and for illegally possessing a firearm as a convicted felon. The court issued a bench warrant for Warner’s arrest and set bail in the amount of $14,050.
A three-count indictment against Mitchell Joseph Nakamura alleges that on March 25, he committed first-degree burglary, unauthorized entry into a dwelling and violating a protective order. He is accused of unlawfully entering the dwelling with the intent to commit a crime.
Nakamura, 49, of Hanapepe, was arrested on March 30, and remains in custody at Kaua‘i Community Correctional Center. Bail is set at $50,000 ,and the case is set for jury trial on Aug. 6.
A three-count indictment against Sean L.K. Cruz-Kamanuwai alleges that on Oct. 9, 2011, he committed second-degree theft, first-degree criminal property damage and second-degree criminal property damage. He is accused of stealing a cell phone and damaging the rear windshield of a car and placing another in danger of death or serious bodily injury.
A warrant was issued for Cruz-Kamanuwai’s arrest, with bail set at $1,100.
An indictment against Stephen T. Crandell alleges that on March 24, he committed second-degree assault by causing substantial bodily injury to another. A warrant was issued for Crandell’s arrest, with bail set at $1,000.
A two-count indictment against James M. Rodelo alleges that on June 25, 2011, he committed first-degree burglary and first-degree assault by unlawfully entering a dwelling and causing serious bodily injury to another. A warrant was issued for Rodelo’s arrest.
A nine-count indictment against Daniel Ikaika Hebron-Woodward alleges that on March 19, he committed first-degree burglary, second-degree unauthorized entry in a dwelling, three counts of harassment, two counts of third-degree sexual assault, attempted first-degree sexual assault and first-degree sexual assault.
A warrant was issued for Hebron-Woodward’s arrest, with bail set at $50,000.
An indictment against Frank Albert Medeiros alleges that on March 12, he committed first-degree terroristic threatening by threatening to cause bodily injury to another with a chain saw.
A warrant was issued for Medeiros’ arrest, with bail set at $7,000.
A six-count indictment alleges that on Dec. 27, 2011, Jacob Christopher Brun and Reid Kazuto Yoshioka were carrying or using a firearm in the commission of a separate felony, place to keep loaded firearm, carrying on a public highway, second-degree promotion of a dangerous drug, third-degree promotion of a dangerous drug and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.
Brun, 23, of Kalaheo, and Yoshioka, 31, of ‘Ele’ele, were arrested on Dec. 27, and released on bail.
A warrant has been issued for their arrests.
