College of Idaho President Marv Henberg presented Dan Nelson Kouchi with his diploma on May 12 as the College of Idaho celebrated its graduating Class of 2012 during a commencement ceremony in Morrison Quadrangle on the campus in Caldwell, Idaho.
College of Idaho President Marv Henberg presented Dan Nelson Kouchi with his diploma on May 12 as the College of Idaho celebrated its graduating Class of 2012 during a commencement ceremony in Morrison Quadrangle on the campus in Caldwell, Idaho.
Kouchi graduated with a bachelor of arts in business administration, with a minor in psychology.
Kouchi is a native of Lihu‘e, and a 2008 graduate of Kaua‘i High School.
He participated in a diverse and expansive range of extracurricular events in both intramural sports and academic activities at the College of Idaho.
In recognition of this, Kouchi received the Intramural Director Service Award in 2012.
In addition, Kouchi was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity.
Kouchi intends to continue his educational pursuits by obtaining a master’s degree in business administration.
It is noteworthy that Kouchi was fortunate to have the rare opportunity to serve as a summer intern in the office of Hawai‘i’ U.S. Sen. Daniel K. Akaka in Washington, D.C., in 2011.
He will complete a second internship with Hawai‘i’ U.S. Sen. Daniel K. Inouye this summer.
Kouchi is the son of Hawai‘i Sen. Ron Kouchi and Joy Kouchi of Lihu‘e.
Hundreds attended the College of Idaho commencement ceremony, which included remarks by Henberg, graduating senior Jon Weese, and commencement speaker Joan Houston Hall, a 1968 College of Idaho graduate who is the current chief editor of the Dictionary of American Regional English.
Of note is the fact that Kouchi was a roommate of Jon Weese for three of his four years at the college and they remain close friends.
