LIHU‘E — Two Kapa‘a teens who broke into several cars on the North Shore last year pleaded guilty to charges Wednesday in 5th Circuit Court with Judge Kathleen Watanabe presiding.
Kaelantroy Kalani Tanigawa and Jonathan Joshua Yed (aka Papagayo) had faced several counts of theft, unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle, credit card theft, unauthorized information, and criminal property damage.
County Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Rebecca Vogt represented the state. She read the charges which stem from a series of North Shore automobile break-ins for credit cards, cash, purses and other valuables involving residents, visitors and rental car companies in May 2011.
Defense attorney Michael Soong represented Tanigawa, who pleaded guilty to felony counts of unauthorized entry and second-degree theft.
His request to have the sentencing date moved from July to Dec. 26 was granted to allow for the end of the school year.
Defense attorney Mark Zenger represented Papagayo, who pleaded to unauthorized entry second-degree theft, and fourth-degree criminal property damage, a petty misdemeanor. His sentencing date was also set for Dec. 26.
