Jan Esaki, a counselor at Kapa‘a Elementary School, was enjoying the multi-use path in Kealia with her sister-in-law Sunday when they happened upon something that made them stop.
“We came upon these three young men vigorously cleaning one of the small pavilions,” Esaki said in an email. “When I asked them if anyone had asked them to do this, Logan Noice, a student at the Chiefess Kamakahelei Middle School, said his mom suggested they clean one.”
Noice was joined by Lion Fugett, a student at Kapa‘a Elementary School, who said they thought to just clean them all, the pair being joined by Lion’s younger brother, Tiger.
Esaki was so moved by the gesture of the three young men, she took the time to get permission from their parents to have the public know of their good deed.
“It’s so refreshing to have our keiki malama our ‘aina,” Esaki said.
