Kauai Futsal traveled to the Big Island to play in the eighth annual Hawaii Futsal Championships at the Pahoa Community Recreation Center Gymnasium on Memorial Day weekend. Teams from the Big Island, Maui and Kauai competed.

Kauai is home to the new Unify Championship Entertainment (UCE) tag team champions. Local pro wrestlers “The Kauai Kid” Noa Kaho‘omana and Incredible Chris Wilde won the UCE tag team titles Saturday during the promotion’s showing “Bonded By Battle” at Aloha Tower Marketplace.
LIHUE — The Von Erich name in pro wrestling is typically associated with its story of the family curse — the untimely deaths of four of five wrestling brothers. The sons of the last surviving brother now aim to take the Von Erich name with them toward a brighter future rather than keep it in its grim past.

KAPAA — Kapaa High School senior Kiran Costa said he wasn’t even aware he was being considered as one of the top high school standouts. He got the call from his athletic director Saturday night informing him that he will be one of just 12 student-athletes that will recognized in the state.
LIHUE — The Kauai Senior Softball League found young legs on old bodies with big bats as a near-record 208 runs were scored in the eight games at the Peter Rayno Softball Park and the Isenberg Softball Stadium. Nine teams scored in double figures including a 14-13 nail biter. Kawaihau takes top honors, crossing the plate 31 times in their game. It was not all smooth sailing for all of the teams with both ball parks reporting serious injuries to several senior ball players.
