Kauai Futsal wins 10U, 12U titles at annual tourney

Kauai Futsal traveled to the Big Island to play in the eighth annual Hawaii Futsal Championships at the Pahoa Community Recreation Center Gymnasium on Memorial Day weekend. Teams from the Big Island, Maui and Kauai competed.

Kauai’s Wilde Kupua claims UCE tag team titles

Kauai is home to the new Unify Championship Entertainment (UCE) tag team champions. Local pro wrestlers “The Kauai Kid” Noa Kaho‘omana and Incredible Chris Wilde won the UCE tag team titles Saturday during the promotion’s showing “Bonded By Battle” at Aloha Tower Marketplace.

LIHUE — The Von Erich name in pro wrestling is typically associated with its story of the family curse — the untimely deaths of four of five wrestling brothers. More than 200 ride in Boys Day dirt bike races

OMAO — More than 200 keiki and adult riders competed in the seventh annual Boys Day Hare & Hound and Poker Run races Sunday. The dirt bike races were hosted by the Garden Island Motorcycle Club in Omao.

Seniors blow up the scoreboard

LIHUE — The Kauai Senior Softball League found young legs on old bodies with big bats as a near-record 208 runs were scored in the eight games at the Peter Rayno Softball Park and the Isenberg Softball Stadium. Nine teams scored in double figures including a 14-13 nail biter. Kawaihau takes top honors, crossing the plate 31 times in their game. It was not all smooth sailing for all of the teams with both ball parks reporting serious injuries to several senior ball players.

Costa to be inducted into Hall of Honor

HONOLULU — Kiran Costa, a senior at the Kapaa High School, will be inducted into the Enterprise Rent-a-car Hawaii High School Athletic Association Hall of Honor during an awards banquet on June 2.

Fast Company takes the whole shot

NAWILIWILI — Fast Company took the final race of the Nawiliwili Yacht Club shoreline Rum Series race, Thursday, and dedicated the series win to Jim Saylor’s father, Dick Saylor, who was an avid sailor before passing away at 92 years old earlier this year.
