Warrior wahine clinch 1st round

KAPAA — Kapaa High School’s varsity softball team won the first round of the Kauai Interscholastic Federation season. Kapaa (6-0 KIF) won both games of Saturday’s doubleheader against Waimea High School at home.

Kapaa’s Costa named KIF boys soccer POY

As voted for by the coaches, this year’s Kauai Interscholastic Federation boys soccer all-stars have been chosen. The list of all-stars was released by the league late Thursday. Kapaa High School senior defender Kiran Costa was named KIF boys soccer Player of the Year.

Warriors unbeaten through 4

PUHI — The Warriors continue to roll. Kapaa High School’s varsity boys volleyball team defeated Island School in straight sets — 25-14, 25-9, 25-8 — Tuesday at the Wilcox Gymnasium on the Island School campus in Puhi.

Kauai scores 7 runs in 6th, routs Waimea

HANAPEPE — Kauai High School’s varsity baseball team defeated Waimea High School in six innings, 12-2, Wednesday afternoon at Hanapepe Stadium. Play ended after six innings because of the 10-run mercy rule.

Hana Hou stuns Rebels; Lihue A’s sweep

KAPAA — The Kauai Senior Softball League brought the action to the East side this past weekend with five games at the Wailua Houselots Park and a triple-header at the Bryan J. Baptiste Sports Complex. The Kawaihau team prepared the Wailua Park and hosted the long day of softball. The Keonimana Gents welcomed the three-game set at the softball stadium in Kapaa.

Waimea walks-off in 14th

HANAPEPE — The Menehune and Warriors endured through 14 innings of play in the first game of a doubleheader Saturday at Hanapepe Stadium. At the end of it, the Menehune boys won on a walk-off single.

Same old faces, new places for NFL star players

The NFL is going to look weird next season. With a slew of recent trades, some of the league’s bonafide stars will don different helmets and jerseys in 2019. Players that you associated with a franchise are no longer with the teams that built them into studs.

Red Raiders, Warriors end ball game tied

KAPAA — After going into extra innings, the Red Raiders and Warriors left the field without determining a winner. Kapaa and Kauai high schools’ varsity baseball teams played to a 4-4 tie after 10 innings Wednesday at the Ron Martin Field in Kapaa. The game was called by umpires because of darkness.

Waimea wins season opener

The Menehune opened its 2019 campaign with a win on the road. Waimea High School’s varsity baseball team defeated Kauai High School, 7-4, in the Kauai Interscholastic Federation season opener Saturday afternoon at Vidinha Stadium. It was the first game of a scheduled doubleheader.

Warriors win in straight sets to start 2019 season

The Warriors, defending league champions and last year’s Division II state runner-up, won in straight sets to start their 2019 campaign. Kapaa High School’s varsity boys volleyball team defeated Island School, 3-0, Friday night in the Kauai Interscholastic Federation season opener.
