LIHUE — Personnel from the Kauai Fire Department rescued an injured 50-year-old California visitor from Waipoo Falls Trail in Kokee State Park on Sunday.
LIHUE — Personnel from the Kauai Fire Department rescued an injured 50-year-old California visitor from Waipoo Falls Trail in Kokee State Park on Sunday.
According to a preliminary report, first responders received a call of a distressed hiker shortly before 1 p.m.
Personnel with Lihue Fire Station aboard Air 1 responded to the incident.
First responders arrived on the scene and discovered the injured hiker with an apparent shoulder injury. Firefighters administered first aid and stabilized the hiker’s injury. The hiker was then loaded into Air 1 and taken to the landing zone at Porters.
Upon landing, the hiker was transferred to Waimea Fire Station personnel and American Medical Response for medical care.
The scene was cleared shortly after 2:15 p.m.
