Congratulations, Char Ravelo and Leadership Kauai, on the 21st graduating class … Laurie Makaneole said her son Jason Makaneole is part of the 21 graduates. Jason is the Hawaiian plant manager at the Alakoko Fish Pond … no, Krystl Apeles of the Alakoko store is part of the class, too.

Kudos to Kaleo Carvalho (Class of 2012?) on emceeing the event where Teak (even Mayor Derek S.K. Kawakami, Meghan Wright, and Alden Alayvilla showed up) was part of the group where Hale Opio’s Priti “Miya” Tayal created a two-sided mural that is a help resource for the community … and mahalo to keynote speaker Sue Kanoho for the offer of sending along the graduates’ names.
OK, so we’re not done, yet … no talking about the Kauai Hospice Concert in the Sky until we get through the weekend and the Kauai Pride Parade (Rice Street is going to be closed for all those people who need to go to work … leave early!) where Ron Wiley said he’s going to be one of the voices, the Hanalei Canoe Club Haena to Hanalei fundraising run/walk (the road is going to be closed from when?) … how about the blessing for the new Kai Holo Wa‘a Canoe Club?
World Ocean Day is happening this weekend with a full day of activities today at the Kukui Grove Center (Aunty Kapu Kinimaka-Alquiza and halau Na Hula O Kaohikukapulani takes the stage starting at 11 a.m.), and a World Oceans Day fair (including a beach clean up starting at 10 a.m.) on Sunday at the Outrigger Kauai Beach Resort.
