Mary Victoria Figaroa
Mary Victoria Figaroa, of Kalaheo, passed away on May 26, 2025, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 74. She was born on Nov. 19, 1950, in Lihue. She was a retired General Manager at Big Save Market in Koloa.
She is survived by her husband Jacob Figaroa Sr. of Kalaheo, sons Jacob (Alice Elizabeth) Figaroa Jr. of Arizona, Jerome Figaroa of Kalaheo, sisters Rose Bautista of Washington State, Vickie Medeiros of Washington State, grandchild Tori (Jackson Cole) Nakamatsu-Figaroa, numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at Kauai Memorial Gardens at 10 a.m. The family requests casual attire and welcomes flowers.

Lindsay ‘Tony’ Anton Faye Jr.
Lindsay “Tony” Anton Faye Jr. was born in Waimea, Kauai, passed away at his home in Koloa at the age of 92 on May 16, 2025.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife Diane “Willi” Guslander Faye, sisters Mary Ballantine and Anna Thiele, and daughters Carrie Faye and Callie (Steve) Thurman.
He is survived by his sister Linda Collins, daughters Christine Faye, Diane (Greg Hawk) Faye, and Lindsay (Jon Lucas) Faye, grandchildren Lokelau Kalawaia, Hoku‘au Faye, Hine Pi‘imauna-Faye, Lawaia Faye, Aaron Thurman, Griffin Hawk, and Charles Lucas, and great-grandchildren Kalaika Kahunanui-Kalawaia, Kanale Kahunanui-Kalawaia, Kiani Kahunanui-Kalawaia, Kileia Kahunanui-Kalawaia, Alamea Pi‘imauna-Ratkowski, and Kilohana Thurman.
A graveside service will be held at Lihu‘e Cemetery in the Rice Plot at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 7 with gathering to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Kaua‘i Hospice.

James Shigekatsu Uemura
Jimmy Uemura, 102, of Lihue, Kauai, passed away peacefully at his home on March 23, 2025.
Jimmy was a U.S. Army veteran and later retired as maintenance supervisor with the State’s Hawaii Housing Authority. He enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas and Japan and performing magic acts at family functions.
He is survived by three daughters Sandy (Tyrone) Oyadomari, Linda Fountain, and Susan (Gerald) Takamura, sister Betty (Gary) Fukumoto and brother Ronald Uemura both from Gardena, California. He was blessed with seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A private service will be held at a later date. The family requests no koden or flowers.

Benjamin ‘Ben’ Naka’ahiki Jr.
Benjamin “Ben” Naka’ahiki Jr. passed away at the age of 68 on May 21, 2025, at Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family. Born on March 8, 1957, in Waimea, Kauai, he was a treasured and talented musician and entertainer with Henry Taeza and his Polynesian group, as well as with Aunty Kapu Kinimaka and Na Hula O Kaohikukapulani.
He was preceded in death by his parents Benjamin Naka’ahiki Sr. and Esther Kaowiloa Naka’ahiki, brothers Marvin Naka’ahiki and Garrick Naka’ahiki, sister Charlene Yamamoto, and brothers-in-law Kevin Iwai and Dexter Yamamoto.
He is survived by his brothers Thomas (Alice) Baptista of Waimea, Brenn (Eileen) Naka’ahiki of Kekaha, Joseph (Nani) Naka’ahiki of Kekaha, and Clyson (Hokulea) Naka’ahiki of Kekaha, sisters Benjinette Iwai of Waimea, Marvaleen (Burt) Vidinha of Kekaha, Trudilynn (Lee) Contrades of Kekaha, and Elena (Todd) Yamase of Eleele, sister-in-law Oriente Naka’ahiki, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A private service will be held at a later date.

Margaret M. Gonsalves
Margaret M. Gonsalves, of Lihue, passed away on May 31, 2025, at the age of 85. She was born in Pennsylvania on Jan. 9, 1940, and did secretarial work in Department of Social Services for the State of Hawaii.
She was preceded in passing by her parents Russel and Mary Lahuta, husband Stanley Gonsalves, son-in-law Leroy Hutchinson, and granddaughter Maile Malloy.
Margaret is survived by her children Mary (Chad) Delanoza of Kekaha, Christine Hutchinson of Lake Stevens, Washington, Joseph (Hieu) Malloy of Bellingham, Washington, Theresa (Ryan) Wa’alani of Kalaheo, Melissa (Byron) Freitas of Kalaheo, grandchildren Donia Kaohi, Chaslee, Dalen and Noah, Delanoza, Anthony and Andrew Hutchinson, Joseph, Alyssa and Nicholas Malloy, Charissa and Ryson Wa’alani, BJ, Jenessa and Shyann Freitas, and five great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held on July 7, 2025, at Immaculate Conception Church. Visitation will begin at 8 a.m. with services to follow at 10 a.m. Burial will take place at Kauai Memorial Gardens.

Nina Lorrie Tasaka
Nina Lorrie Tasaka, 63, of Kapaa, passed away on May 16, 2025, in Lihue. She was born on July 28, 1961, in Buffalo Grove, Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her father Vernon Tasaka and mother Florence Tasaka.
She is survived by her daughter Karlina Tasaka, sisters Sheri (Das) Baker, Donna (Wayne) Moore, hanai sisters Penny Fernandes, Julie (Darryl) Chong, grandchildren Kaylin Espada-Tasaka, Kaleomana Tasaka, Roselynn Rapozo, Christoper Rapozo, Micah Rapozo, great- grandchild Rose Tasaka, and numerous nieces, nephews, Tasaka cousins, friends, and hanai family.
A service will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Kapaa Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Visitation with the family will start at 1:30 p.m. followed by services at 2 p.m.
The family suggests casual or aloha attire and kindly requests that flowers be omitted.
Jordyn Malia Diogo Valdez
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Jordyn Malia Diogo Valdez.
She was born on Oct. 2, 2002, on Kauai and passed away at home, in Oregon, on April 26, 2025, with her mom, dad and brother at her side.
Jordyn was the MDA Goodwill Ambassador for both Hawaii and Oregon. She was also her high school’s yearbook editor for two years. Jordyn loved volunteering and spending time with the babies at a daycare program. She was an avid writer who loved singing and spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by her parents, Framil and Ana Valdez, brother Landen Valdez, grandparents, Frank and Lily Valdez of Lihue, Eric and Grace Ishida of Kapahi, uncles Jose R Diogo of Lihue and Patrick Ishida of Kapahi and her guinea pigs Nutmeg and Phoebe. She also leaves behind numerous other relatives and many friends.
Although Jordyn left this earth far too soon, she made a positive impact on everyone she met. Her determination, strength, kindness and sense of humor will forever live in all our hearts. She will be missed dearly.

Ronald ‘Braddah’ Beralas
Ronald “Braddah” Beralas, 74, of Lihue, Hawai‘i, passed away on May 6, 2025. Born on Oct. 5, 1950, in Hawaii. Ronald served in the U.S. Army and obtained the rank of Sargeant and most recently worked as the Courtesy Bus Driver for Avis/Budget rent-a-car.
He was preceded in death by his parents Al and Juliana Beralas, brothers Alan Beralas, Clayton Beralas and nephew Gavin Degracia.
Ronald is survived by sisters Corrine Deb (Frenchie) Degracia, Ginger (Hank) Soboleski, Yolanda (Dennis) Yacavone, numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
