Congratulations to all the high school graduates who are taking the big walk this weekend!
The Kulia I Ka Nu‘u Hawaiian Health Fair Kauai opens from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Kauai Museum with special guest Aunty Kuuipo Kumukahi. There will be free plant giveaways while supplies last, free resources for the entire family, and free basic haircuts from 9 a.m. to noon.
Designer Barbara Green will be showing off some of her fashions, and enjoy the Hawaiian tunes by Troy and Puni Waialeale and halau, Hiipoi Vakamelau, Lady Ipo Kahaunaele, and the Kapaa Middle School Ukulele Band.
Guest speakers are Chucky Boy Chock, Dr. Lysa Kalani Kama-Carr, RN Steph Edwards, Rae Nam, and Emmalani Makepa-Foley.
Over at Kukui Grove, Barbara Oki said Oki’s Diner is starting its $6.99 plate lunches to thank people for supporting the Oki family of restaurants for more than 30 years at the home of the world-renowned Oki Pancakes. Available from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., the menu includes Neal’s Famous Chicken, Chef’s Crispy Chicken, Chicken Katsu, Hawaiian Style Beef Stew, Deep Fried Teri Chicken, Japanese Beef Curry, Kalua Pig, Roast Park, and the Oki’s Fried Noodles.
Down the row, Carol Yotsuda should be back from graduation on Oahu to open the Boroboro Boutique, which features grandma-style crafts and learning in the Kauai Society of Arts gallery next to Bubbah’s Toy Box. Boroboro Boutique (you can even make your own) is open from 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sunday, and, yes, even Monday.
