The eruption of Kilauea Volcano Episode 22 continued on Friday, May 16, at 5:13 a.m., with fountains from the north vent reaching a maximum height of around a thousand feet. Kilauea’s Volcano alert level/ color code remains at WATCH/ ORANGE.
Thus far, the volcanic eruptions of Halemaumau lava have been fountaining since December 23, 2024, and have continued for around a day, and have had pauses in activity lasting several days.
Officials advise the public, especially those with pre-existing respiratory or other medical conditions, to visit the Hawaii Interagency Vog Information Dashboard for useful information regarding the volcanic vog that tends to travel and impact neighboring islands after an eruption.
