Hope all the hard-working moms had a chance to enjoy Mother’s Day … were there any at the volunteer Young Lawyers who turned out on Saturday at The Grove Farm Market as part of the Hawaii State Bar Association Law Day and Law Week celebration? Judge Gregory Meyers said it’s not over, yet. The Judiciary presents the winners of this year’s art contest at the courthouse, and we celebrate the start of Police Week today.

Vanessa Duarte of Da Wicked Brew thought the new Spam Bagel was good enough, chef created one even before the customer orders. Patty of Kauai Partea was trying to figure out how to dress up the Dirty Mud Boba Float in time for Okinawa Festival (emcee Jonathan Chun paid special tribute to Dereck Sone of Sone’s Delicatessen for providing good food at the Kukui Grove Center where Times Supermarket, according to Jonathan, started out as a restaurant.
Cherie Cabadibg figured out how to do the Dirty Mud Boba Float while promoting the newest branch of the Kauai Diner that opened in The Shops at Kukuiula, just in time for the Night Market for Mother’s Day. Stacie Chiba Miguel said Scottie Brown’s restaurant and bar also made the deadline and opened the week of the Night Market.
Congratulations to Kristyn Peralta on coordinating the Mei Makeke that wrapped up on Mother’s Day when shoppers were rummaging through the bins for whatever was left at Shipreck Hawaii (Courtney Wilson said it was busy!), and you could enter Simply Sisters through the main makeke on Sunday.
Sheldon said once Kristyn clears the makeke, Bubbah’s Toy Box starts setting up for the Kauai Collectors Con that starts May 16 (it’s the same time as the Kauai Community College graduation) with Trade Night, and continues on May 17 and 18. Sheldon said there will be both Kauai and off-island collectors of Pokemon, sports cards, comics, coins, diecast, anime and more (how about a special appearance for the character starring in the soon-to-be-released “Lilo and Stitch 2” who was a panelist at last year’s Comic Con?)
