LIHUE — A number of road-related projects are on tap in the days ahead with grass cutting, tree trimming and guardrail repair making up the bulk of the work, the Hawaii Department of Transportation said in an update on Friday.
The following is a list of projects scheduled for the workweek ending May 16. All work is weather permitting.
Kapaia
Right lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) in the northbound direction, between mile post 1 to 2, in the vicinity of the Laukini Road and Hanamaulu Road, on Thursday and Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for cutting grass.
Wailua
Right lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) in the northbound direction, between mile post 6.2 to 6.4, in the vicinity of the Papaloa Road and Lanikai Street, from 8 p.m. Thursday through 4 a.m. Friday, for concrete barrier installation.
Kapaa
Single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) possible in either direction, between mile post 8 to 9.5, in the vicinity of Akia Road to Kealia lookout today to Friday, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly for resurfacing, concrete and electrical work. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.
Right lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) in the northbound direction, between mile post 9.9 to 10.2, in the vicinity of Mailihuna Road to Kealia Road, on Monday to Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for guardrail repair.
Kilauea
All lanes on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) remain open. However, the county road (Kolo Road) that intersects with Kuhio Highway is closed at the intersection. The intersection will be closed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week through the first week in July. To access Kilauea town, traffic is being routed to Hookui Road and Pili Road, for work on the roundabout. Right lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) possible in either direction, between mile post 23.8 to 25, on Tuesday and Thursday from 1 a.m. to 6:30 a.m. for cleaning culverts.
Single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) possible in either direction between mile post 24.4 to 28.1, in the vicinity of Kalihiholo Road and Emmalani Drive, today to Friday, nightly, from 8 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. for replacement of signs and markers.
Princeville
Single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 560) possible in either direction between mile post 0.3 to 1.2, in the vicinity of Hanalei Plantation Road and Ohiki Road, on Monday to Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for pipe and gutter installation. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.
Hanalei
Single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 560) in the westbound direction between mile post 2.7 to 3.3, in the vicinity of Cin Tai Wai Road and Anae Road on Monday to Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for sidewalk installation. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.
Waikoko
Single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 560) possible in either direction between mile post 4.3 to 4.5, in the vicinity of Waikoko Bridge and Lumahai Trailhead, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for slope stabilization of Waikoko Hillside. Single lane closure on Kaumualii Highway (Route 50) possible in either direction, between mile post 2.9 to 8.7, in the vicinity of Kipu Road and Piwai Reservoir today to Friday from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for striping.
Kalaheo
Right lane closure on Kaumualii Highway (Route 50) possible in either direction, between mile post 10.9 to 11.5, between Lauoho Road and Silva Tract Road on Monday to Friday from 12 a.m. to 5:30 a.m. for tree trimming.
Eleele
Roving right lane closure on Kaumualii Highway (Route 50) possible in either direction, between mile post 12.5 to 13.2, in the vicinity of Power Line Road on Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for tree trimming.
Lane shift on Kaumualii Highway (Route 50) possible in either direction, between mile post 14.5 to 15.5, in the vicinity of Mahea Road on Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for grass cutting and guardrail clearing.
Kokee
Single lane closure on Waimea Canyon Drive (Route 550) possible in either direction between mile post 11.5 to 14, on Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for shoulder stabilization, grassing, guardrail and striping. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.
