The local Better Business Bureau is looking for award-worthy businesses to spotlight in its upcoming award show. BBB Foundation, the charitable arm of Better Business Bureau, announced it is now accepting applications for its regional Torch Awards for Ethics and Spark Awards for Entrepreneurship programs.
Businesses of every size based in Hawaii, Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Western Wyoming and Central Colorado are invited to apply for BBB Foundation’s annual awards recognizing marketplace role models.
“The Torch Awards and Spark Awards are a celebration of businesses that are committed to operating ethically and with integrity,” said Tyler Andrew, president and CEO of BBB Foundation. “Applying for and then earning these honors is a true confirmation of a business’s success in building trust with its employees, customers and communities.”
The Torch Awards for Ethics, presented by Bridge City Law, recognizes trustworthy businesses that make an outstanding commitment to their character, culture, customers and community. Honorees of this program are businesses operating for three years or more.
The Spark Awards for Entrepreneurship, also presented by Bridge City Law, honors remarkable entrepreneurs and new businesses in a community. Honorees of this program are businesses that have been operating for three years or less, or businesses with owners aged 35 or younger.
Awards selections will be based on responses to prompts focused on the character of the organization’s leadership, how they foster an authentic work culture, prioritize customer relationships, and positively impact their community.
All businesses that meet the eligibility criteria are encouraged to apply online now. Spark Awards applications are due by June 22 and Torch Awards applications are due by July 20. BBB Accreditation is not required. An independent, voluntary panel of judges comprised of past Torch and Spark Awards winners will score all finalist applications. Torch and Spark Awards winners from each state will be announced as part of a virtual ceremony to be held in October.
The applications, along with the criteria and eligibility requirements, can be found at thebbb.org/awards.
