Ricky Yoshiichi Shigematsu
Ricky Yoshiichi Shigematsu passed away on March 1, 2025. He was born on July 15, 1947. He worked as a sous chef and cook at the Kauai Beach Resort.
He was preceded in death by parents Torao and Yoshiko Shigematsu, brother Clyde Tamotsu Shigematsu, brother-in-law Richard Patrick Corr Sr. and daughter-in-law Maude Keiko Nalani Shigematsu.
He is survived by companion/partner Lori Ann Cabebe, sisters Karen (Miles) Tone, Wanda Corr, Lisa (Thomas) Potter, sister-in-law Alison (Eric) Okada, children Troy Shigematsu, Traci (Matthew) Tafiti, Keilen (Aimee) Shigematsu, hanai children Khyler Cabebe, Kanoe‘okekai Cabebe, Chandi Lee Cabebe, 19 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at the Lihue Neighborhood Center. Visitation begins at 10 a.m., followed by service at 11 a.m. A celebration of life to follow.

Gary Ernest Venturini
Gary Ernest Venturini, of Kapaa, passed away peacefully at home on April 27, 2025, at the age of 78. He was born on Feb. 1, 1947, in Santa Cruz, California. He was a commercial insulator for the Carpenter’s Union.
He is survived by his wife Janet Venturini, son Jody Venturini, daughter Julie (John) Landes, three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and sister Karen Levy.
Kauai Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
Lucy Kanoa
Lucy Kanoa passed away in Waimea, Kauai, on April 10, 2025, at the age of 95. She was born on Nov. 14, 1929, in Waimea, Kauai.
She was preceded in death by husband Mervin Kanoa, parents Frank and Pilad Ruiz, grandson Lon Canon, brothers David Ruiz, John Ruiz, Frank Ruiz, Alfred Ruiz, sisters Marie Lewis and Kathrine Martin.
She is survived by son Roderick “Roddy” (Ruth) Kanoa of Kekaha, daughters Paulette Kanoa of Las Vegas, Nevada, Pamela (Tom) Courtney of Kekaha, four grandchildren, eight great- grandchildren, brother Guy Ruiz of Kekaha, numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Kekaha. Visitation is from 9 to 10 a.m., followed by the eulogy at 10 a.m. and Mass at 10:30 a.m. The family requests casual attire and welcomes flowers.
