Peter C. Koorenhof
Peter C. Koorenhof, 74, of Kilauea, passed away on April 7, 2025. He was born in Indonesia on Dec. 15, 1950.
Preceded in death by his parents Johan and Maria Koorenhof and sister Monique Koorenhof.
He is survived by his son Jackson Koorenhof, former wife Laura Koorenhof, brother Albert Koorenhof and niece Alison Creelman.

Ruben Lagundino
Ruben Lagundino, 74, of Lihue, passed away on March 30, 2025, at Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital. He was born in the Philippines on Feb. 10, 1951. A proud United States National Guard veteran, Ruben dedicated 20 years of service as a pest controller at Lihu‘e Plantation and later retired as a custodian with the County of Kaua‘i.
He was preceded in death by his parents Nemicio Lagundino and Rufina Balaan, brothers Onofre, Percival, Jimmy, and Rudy Lagundino.
Ruben is survived by his loving wife Fely Pascual Lagundino, brother Elmer (Thelma) Lagundino, sisters Zenaida Ano, Teresita (Mario) Tangonan, and Fe Ramos, brothers-in-law Edmund (Cora) Pascual and Ruven Pascual, sisters-in-law Delia (Henry) Bumagat and Josie (Jaime) Pablo, along with numerous aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at Immaculate Conception Church. Visitation begins at 8:30 a.m., with Mass to follow at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Immaculate Conception Church Cemetery. The family kindly requests casual attire.

Wilfred Kuali‘i III
Wilfred Kuali‘i III, of Lihu‘e, passed away on March 12, 2025, at the age of 91. He was born in Kalaupapa, Moloka‘i, on Oct. 1, 1933, and worked as a Paniolo (Cowboy) at KipuKai Ranch and numerous jobs at Grove Farm and Lihu‘e Plantations.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Patricia Ann Carvalho Kuali‘i, parents Red and Melapa May Corr, sisters Barbara Velasquez, Goldie Mae Kahale, Colleen Okamoto, Aletha Matsusaka, brothers James Corr Jr. and Richard Corr.
Wilfred is survived by his brothers Charles (Jean) Corr, John (Sandy) Corr, daughters Sandra Mae Hokulani (Alan Yamashiro) Kuali‘i, Debra Jean Ualani (Ron Silva Jr.) Kuali‘i, sons KipuKai Leslie Patrick (Joe Carrillo) Kuali‘i, Alan Brian Pono (Tiana Pangan) Kuali‘i, Kurt Kalani (Michele) Kuali‘i, Kris Kawika (Kaina) Lovell Kuali‘i, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at Immaculate Conception Church. Visitation will begin at 8 a.m., Program at 9 a.m. and Mass at 10 a.m. Burial will take place at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens later in the day.
Please bring your instruments and voices to participate in the “kanikapila” part of program.
Leis are welcome but not necessary.

Arline Yoshiko Matsunaga
Arline Yoshiko Matsunaga passed away on Oct. 14, 2024. She was born in Lihue, Kauai, on June 20, 1936, and lived in Eleele, Kauai.
Arline was preceded in death by husband Paul, sister Alexa Moon, parents Arata and Kiku Minatoya.
She is survived by daughter Doreen (Elpidio) Cadavona, son Scott (Pakalana) Matsunaga, three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services will be on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at the Garden Island Mortuary in Lawai. Visitations begins at 10 a.m., followed by services at 11 a.m. The family requests aloha attire.

John Joseph Taylor Jr.
John Joseph Taylor Jr., of Koloa, passed away on March 30, 2025, at the age of 77. He was born on Sept. 2, 1947, in New York. He was a mason in the construction industry and a veteran of the Navy.
He was preceded in death by his parents John and Dora Taylor.
He is survived by his wife Nalani Taylor of Omao, son John Ben Taylor of Koloa, daughters Maile Taylor of Koloa, Kalena Taylor (Kelly Hunt) of Koloa, sister Dorothy Taylor of Austin, Texas, six grandchildren, numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A service will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at Prince Kuhio Park starting at 10 a.m., with a paddle out at PK’s following at 11 a.m. The family requests casual attire and welcomes flowers.

Tomiko ‘Tomi’ Akuna
Tomiko “Tomi” Akuna, of Kalaheo, passed away on April 10, 2025, at her home. She was a retired cook.
She was preceded in death by parents Kataro and Kiku Kimura and husband Daniel Akuna.
She is survived by son Danford (June) Akuna, daughters Darnette Akuna, Oralynn (Donald) Mulvey, sister Yoshiko Young, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A private celebration of life will be held.
