Congratulations, Leland Kahawai and all those Kauai First Hawaiian Bank on the opening of the Lihue Banking Center that takes the place of the Lihue Branch on Rice Street … don’t park there, there are cones blocking it, for now. Kudos to Kahu Jade Waialeale Battad on doing the blessing of the two new buildings, and the open garden (they call it a breezeway) and covered walkway. Now, what’s going to happen to that building on Rice Street?

So, for Good Friday (dang, volleyball doesn’t take breaks), the Kapaa Missionary Church is hosting its third annual Glow in the Dark Easter Egg Hunt, starting at 6:30 p.m. at the church located across the Kapaa Fire Station. The event is free, and Val Chang said she heard there will be more than 1,000 eggs, food, lots of games (including keiki bumper cars), a bouncy castle, and prizes. People can park in the former Foodland parking lot.
That comes on the heels of the Kauai Police Activities League track meet for students in grades 6 to 8 that’s going to take place on the Island School campus on Friday, starting at 9 a.m. If you’re reading this, registration ends today through Athletic.net.
And, on the heels of K-PAL, the Rotary Track Meet is supposed to take place … no starting time specified.
In between everything, Child and Family Service, including its family centers Nana’s House in Waimea, and Hale Hoomalu in Kapaa, will be hosting its free Ohana Fun Festival on April 27 (yes, it is a Sunday) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Grove Farm Puhi Park (same one The Grove Farm Market uses) with keiki rides, food, crafts and a bunch of family-friendly activities. Pre-registration is needed to get an idea of how many people will be there. For help registering, call the CFS office at 808-245-5914, Nana’s House at 808-338-0252, or Hale Hoomalu at 808-821-2520.
