PRINCEVILLE — Generosity took center stage last week as the second annual North Shore Give Auction Gala concluded its two-week auction event at the 1 Hotel Hanalei Bay.
The North Shore Give NSG Auction Gala, held on Feb. 26, united a variety of residents and community members for a refined, family-style evening aimed at strengthening the North Shore.
The night’s auctioneer, Ron Wiley, presided over the remaining items up for bidding, including the anticipated item of the evening: the surfboard artwork ‘Cartoon Chaos,’ created by multi-artist Trevor Romain, which sold within minutes.
“Being able to talk about the piece, in public, to the attendees of the gala was uplifting and rewarding,” said Romaine, “It’s very fulfilling to care about a community, and being able to support that community is a blessing.
“I really enjoyed the wonderful mix of people at the event and the camaraderie,” he added, “As my headmaster at school said every morning at assembly— ‘It is in the giving that you receive,” he said.
The highest bids recorded during the event included tickets to the United States Open, an African safari experience, and a two-night accommodation at the 1 Hotel Hanalei Bay. Additionally, other highly sought-after items and experiences included a ride-along with the Kauai Police Department and the James Bond Archives.
The substantial funds generated during the two-week auction will now continue providing enhanced support to various programs and initiatives including the Makana North Shore Urgent Care in Princeville.
The North Shore Give Foundation will now provide Makana North Shore Urgent Care with a 75,000-value ultrasound machine that will further support the community with non-invasive and safe access to health screenings.
NSG will continue to support, Reef Guardians Hawaii with water quality and testing equipment. The funds will help identify and address pollution in Kauai streams, bays, and oceans, further safeguarding the islands’ natural resources.
Additionally, NSG will now support community members through emergency response training programs such as the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program. Classes in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification, along with proper training on the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED).
These programs will ensure the North Shore community is equipped with the skills and tools to respond effectively in critical situations or emergencies.
Stefan Swanepoel, President of the NSG Foundation, brought down the hammer on the successful evening, and said;
“Last week, the foundation united over 100 members and organizations, demonstrating that when we give together, we rise together.
“Mahalo to everyone who joined us this wonderful evening. Your contributions will continue to uplift and enhance the well-being of this community.”
