Wreckless e-bike rider
Friday evening a week ago, I came extremely close to hitting an e-bike rider. It was 6:30 p.m. with rapidly fading light. I was entering the roundabout by Kealia. I had just looked to the left and there was nobody coming. The bike flashed in front of me and only God saved the rider from being killed. The rider got onto the bicycle path, joining up with another rider and they headed north very fast, doing wheelies. In addition to reckless behavior I believe that, they were in violation of the law by riding on the bike path and by speeding.
This kind of wreckless behavior is extremely common. It’s a miracle that we haven’t had a bunch of serious accidents and deaths.
I would hope that the parents buying this kind of machine would really consider the ability of their children to make good decisions and to ride responsibly. The bikes have become extremely fast and many riders l have seen obviously don’t know how to ride safely or don’t realize how dangerously they are riding.
Let’s protect our keiki from themselves.

How did this happen
On Feb. 5, 2025, Kailon Tyndzik died of injuries sustained by being struck by a vehicle. The vehicle was located and Salvin Hilaro was arrested. Salvin Hilaro is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
Now, here’s the question — if Salvin Hilaro was driving? Why was he driving? Why does he have a car? He has been stopped multiple times for driving without a valid driver’s license, without insurance multiple times over the past year.
His criminal traffic-records go back 8 years. Here are the next questions — does his vehicle get confiscated? Does he pay fine? If never paid a fine is the vehicle impounded? Has he just been walking away from every offence?
Kailon Tyndzik is never going to walk again … ever.
