Juanita Arcangel Mamaclay
Juanita Arcangel Mamaclay, 99, of Fort Worth, Texas, formerly of Kekaha, Kauai, passed away peacefully on Jan. 18, 2025, at Mustang Creek Estates, an assisted living-memory care community in Burleson, Texas. She was born on Aug. 21, 1926, in Lallo, Cagayan, Philippines.
She was a passionate homemaker and seamstress.
She was preceded in death by husband Bernardo Claro Mamaclay, parents Eugenio and Dominga Sabas Arcangel, sisters Ofrina Perciano and Teodota Pastoral.
She is survived by children Raymond (Jan) Mamaclay, Janet (Charles) Moder, Bryan (Lita) Mamaclay, five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews living abroad.
Private services are planned. Interment at Kauai Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe, Kauai.
Rosallia Ulanday Fernandez
Rosallia Ulanday Fernandez, of Kekaha, passed away on Jan. 2, 2025, at the age of 94.
She was born on Jan. 16, 1930, in Kekaha. She retired from Kekaha Elementary School as a custodian and classroom cleaner.
She was preceded in death by her husband Elpedio Fernandez, son Carl Fernandez, father Bernabe Ulanday, mother Romana Anselmo Ulanday, brothers Bernard Ulanday, Ameng Ulanday, Rodolfo Ulanday, David Ulanday, Gabriel Ulanday, sisters Dolores Leong and Florence Latorre.
She is survived by her sons Malcolm (Marla) Fernandez of Kekaha, Ira (Sharon) Fernandez of Waimea, Marvin (Lisa) Fernandez of Eleele, daughter Debra (Roger) Keto of Las Vegas, Nevada, sister Virginia Guisinger of Fayetteville, Arkansas, grandchildren Raenaye Kato, Kelly (Kevin) Agena, Cale (Tracy) Fernandez, Jill (Steve) Jakubowski, Micah (Teal Takayama) Fernandez, Layne (Machaela) Fernandez, Skyler (Alissa Rapacon) Fernandez, Tanner (Kelly Joto) Fernandez, Jamin (Naomi Toki) Fernandez, Chyna (Taylon Yadao) Fernandez, great-grandchildren Kysen Agena, Jace Kato, Hailey Jakubosji, Makani Fernandez, Hualani Fernandez, Hunter Fernandez, Mehana Fernandez, numerous nieces and nephews.
Private family viewing will be held at the Garden Island Mortuary in Lawai on Monday, Feb. 17, 2025, from 10 a.m. to noon.
A service will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2025, at the St. Theresa Church in Kekaha. Visitation from 9 to 10 a.m. with Mass to follow at 10:30 a.m. The family requests casual attire and kindly declines flowers.

Kathleen Donna Aban Asuncion
Kathleen Donna Aban Asuncion, of Wailua Homesteads, Kauai, Hawaii passed away peacefully on Feb. 2, 2025, at the age of 82. Born on Jan. 15, 1943, in Kealia. She was a retired State of Hawaii Janitor at Kapaa Elementary School.
Kathleen was preceded in death by husband Alfredo Asuncion, Marcos Aban, parents Ceasar and Marie Augusto.
She is survived by sisters Susie Gusman, Theresa Augusto, brother Wayne Augusto, daughters Michelle Saia, Danette Madeira and son Stanford (Chantel) Aban.
Kathleen was blessed by 7 grandchildren Randy Teves-Aban, Ashley Teves-Aban, Andrew (Natasha) Saia, Tiane (Latu) Saia Lao, Stanford Aban Jr., Kala Madeira, Annie Rose Madeira, 4 great-grandchildren Kaya, Tuipulotu, Lii and Tosh Saia, stepchildren Wendell Okimoto, Jan Kaleimamahu, Wayne Augie Asuncion, Alfredo Kimo Escalante and Raymond Asuncion.
Kathleen embraced a simple life. Enjoying fishing, crocheting, lei making and gardening. Her favorite pass time during the weekends was finding treasures at garage sales.
Her faith in God was very strong. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever beliveth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16 She was the Best Mom- She will be truly missed.
Celebration of her life will be held at the St. Catherine Catholic Church in Kapaa on Saturday, Feb. 22, 2025. You may visit with the family at 9:30 a.m. Services will follow at 11 a.m. Casual attire suggested.

Stanford Howard Garcia
Stanford Howard Garcia, 75, of Hanamaulu, passed away at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on Jan. 25, 2025. He was born in Lihue, Kauai on Aug. 7, 1949. A Hanamaulu boy from day one.
Preceded in death by his parents Daniel and Rosaline Garcia, sister Juliet “Julie” Garcia and brother Andrew Garcia.
He is survived by his son Daniel (Shandrina) Garcia of Hanamaulu, daughter Celeste (Marc) Robinson of Kapaa, six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, sister Loretta Kupihea, brother Richard (Barbara) Ebinger, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at Immaculate Conception Church with visitation from 8 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10 a.m.
