Unfortunately, both team suffered losses on Thursday. Kapaa went down 2-3 against King Kekaulike despite Warrior hitter going 2-for 3 in the batter’s box and scoring one of the 2 Kapaa runs.
Kauai High School could only push one run home on its two hits as the Red Raiders fell 1-5 against Kamehameha Schools-Maui who whacked eight hits against the stable of Kauai hurlers. Kaiea Nishi had the longest stint on the mound at three innings, earning the sole strikeout for Kauai while giving up no runs on two hits and a walk.
Back at home, today is the final round of the John A. Burns Intercollegiate golf tournament at the Ocean Prince Hokuala golf course. Shotgun start is at 9 a.m. with the host University of Hawaii men’s golf team and Coach Scott Simpson. Walking spectators are free.
Over at the Kukui Grove food court, musicians Hank Curtis, Peggy Lake, and Laine Griffith present “Love is in the Air” music to go with lunch (the Chicken Katsu — yes, they have a bowl, too — at the L&L Hawaiian BarBQue is the bomb like the Lemon Chicken at Ho’s Chinese Kitchen).
And, don’t forget Edwin Vea and The Beach House monthly craft fair that starts at 9 a.m. on Sunday in Poipu where the passage of the President’s Day (it’s a holiday on Monday, folks) weather front will make shopping that much more exciting.
