David Isidro Remata Sr.
David Isidro Remata Sr., of Makaweli, passed away on Jan. 1, 2025, at Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital at the age of 96. He was born on May 15, 1928, in Pakala. He was retired and a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He was preceded in death by his parents Crisanto and Vicenta Remata, brothers Edward Remata, Alfredo Remata, sisters Florence Remata and Vivian Nonaka.
He is survived by his wife Mercedes Remata, sons David (Kathy) Remata Sr. of Mililani, Charles (Pua) Remata of Kekaha, William Remata of Makaweli, daughters Bella Dennis (Jeff Kiaaina) of Hanapepe, Phyllis (Garth) Glazier of Ewa Beach, Davidina (Garrick) Nagao of Honolulu, Cheryl Remata (Chansen Tachibana) of Makaweli, 17 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, brothers Richard Remata of Kekaha, Stanley (Norma) Remata of Pearl City, Wilfred Remata of Los Angeles, California, Lawrence Remata of Simi Valley, California, Patrick Remata of Los Angeles, California, sisters Mildred Olores of Kekaha and Elise Aquino of Lihue.
A service will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Garden Island Mortuary in Lawai. Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m., with the eulogy at 10 a.m. and a prayer to follow. The family requests casual attire.

Misao Sasaki
Misao Sasaki, of Lihue, passed away on Dec. 21, 2024, at the Garden Isle Rehabilitation & Healthcare at the age of 104. She was born on Nov. 30, 1920. She was a housewife.
She was preceded in death by her husband Iwao Charlie Sasaki, parents Ikutaro and Hatsuno Yoshinaka, brothers Masao Yoshinaka, Takeo Yoshinaka, sisters Kikuyo Yoshinaka, Kimie Yoshinaka, Shizuko Suzuki and Chieko Higa.
She is survived by her daughter Dale (Alan) Masumura, two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A private family service was held. The family kindly requests no koden (monetary gifts).
Garden Island Mortuary assisted the family with arrangements.
Craig ‘Bobo’ Kiyoshi Iwase
Craig “Bobo” Kiyoshi Iwase, of Lawai, passed away on Jan. 15, 2025, at Straub Clinic & Hospital at the age of 52. He was born on May 18, 1972, in Waimea. He was a commercial fisherman.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Walter and Diane Chang and paternal grandparents Jack and Toyoko Iwase.
He is survived by his girlfriend Dejarene Chang Wo, sons Kaikea Iwase of Lawai, Kaimana Iwase of Lawai, Kaikane Iwase of Lawai, Jeremy Crawford-Iwase of Washington State, daughter Kaylee Branco-Iwase of Lawai, father Vernon Iwase and brother Dayton (Kylie Hookano) Nagao of Hanapepe.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, Feb. 16, 2025, at Kukuiula Boat Harbor starting at 1 p.m. The family requests casual attire.
