Jaime Keoki Mikiala Malama
Jaime Keoki Mikiala Malama, 58, of Kekaha, passed away on Jan. 15, 2025, in Kekaha. He was born on Sept. 22, 1966, in Waimea. He was an electrician.
He was preceded in death by father Patrick T. Malama.
He is survived by Alisa Malama, son Nakoa (Kai-Lee) Malama, daughters Brandee (Sheldon) Soto, Byrlynn (Shane) Malama, grandchildren Camron Soto, Michael Soto, Kainalu Cabral, Kamaehu Cabral, Kaliko Kenney, mother Pinky Malama, brother Patrick “Kanani” Malama of Waimea, sisters Roberta “Pua” (Chucky) Remata of Kekaha, Raenette (Alton) Lopez of Kekaha, Jackie (Preston) Lee of Kekaha, Lolly (Mel) Malama of Kekaha, Desiree (Daniel) Kittredge of Waimea, numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A service will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at Kekaha Neighborhood Center. Visitation from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by service from 1 to 2 p.m.
Shirley Anne (Hansen) Douglass
Born in San Francisco, California, Shirley Anne (Hansen) Douglass passed away in Lihue, Hawaii, on Jan. 9, 2025, at the age of 89, with family by her side. Shirley graduated from Galileo High School in San Francisco, married her childhood sweetheart Paul Douglass, and began a life of adventure as Paul’s Navy service and long career with Matson Navigation Co. took them to Korea, Japan, Portland and back to San Francisco. When Matson sent Paul and Shirley out to Hawaii in 1967, they fell in love with the islands and stayed there for good, living over the years on Oahu, Maui, the Big Island, and finally Kauai (with a brief detour to Guam).
In addition to raising their five children, Shirley actively supported Paul’s community service efforts and worked for Macy’s (San Francisco), Mobil Oil (Guam). Additionally, many will remember Shirley as the friendly face at Waldenbooks, later Borders, here on Kauai.
Shirley is survived by her children Susan L. Douglass of Hilo, Stephen P. Douglass of Las Vegas, David C. Douglass of Clarksville, Tennessee, Sharon D. Mayo of Mill Valley, California, devoted caregiver Scott A. Douglass of Lihue, six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, sisters Marian Mann, Carole Poe and brother William Carlson.
In lieu of flowers, donations in honor of Shirley Douglass may be made to Kauai Hospice or the Wilcox Hospital Foundation.
Menancio C. Cadiz
Menancio C. Cadiz, of Puhi, passed away in Lihue on Jan. 13, 2025, at the age of 81. He was born in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, on Oct. 13, 1943, and worked as a landscaper for Waikomo Stream Villas.
He was preceded in passing by his parents Jose and Severina Cadiz, siblings Juan Cadiz, Flora Adaog, Sergia Cabatan, Lorenza Bolosan, sisters-in-law Melida Cadiz, Imelda Bolosan and Leticia Constantino.
Menancio is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Florentina Cadiz, children Beny (Zeny) Cadiz, Harold Cadiz, Flordeliza (Jeffrey) Calazan, Rodel Cadiz, grandchildren Bryzen Cadiz, Brayden Cadiz, Zinchin Cadiz, Jillian Calazan, Julianna Calazan, siblings Rosita Bolosan, Tony (Marlene) Cadiz, sister-in-law Prescilla Merillana, brothers-in-law Bienvenido Cadiz and Pedro Cadiz.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2025, at Immaculate Conception Church with visitation from 8 to 9:30 a.m., a funeral Mass at 10 a.m., and burial to follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens.

William ‘Bill’ Grosvenor Cramer
William “Bill” Grosvenor Cramer, 89, of Lawai, passed away at home on Jan. 13, 2024. He was born in Washington on July 16, 1935. He was a veteran of the United States Army and retired as an accountant.
Preceded in death by his wife Lillian Marie Morris Cramer, parents Tony and Marie Cramer, brother Nolan Cramer and sister Ruth Cramer.
Bill is survived by sons Brian (Tasha Nicholas) Cramer of California, Lloyd (Brenda) Cramer of Colorado, grandchildren Faith Ann Cramer, Jon Nichael Cramer, August Konvalin, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of his life will be held on Monday, Jan. 27, 2025, at the Lawai Seventh Day Adventist Church with viewing from 10:30 a.m. and services beginning at 11 a.m. Burial will be held at Kauai Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe at 1 p.m.
