So, how cold was it?
People had a hard time getting up (Mayor Derek S.K. Kawakami said he was at the nation’s capitol and the state capital so this was nothing); Mel Rapozo said he just got back from Texas (congratulations on being a grandpa again) where it actually snowed on the day he left.
It was pretty cold during the Kauai Fire Department’s celebration of the Recruit Class 33 graduation and promotions; the car’s onboard thermometer registered 60 degrees when the sun had already risen. Congratulations to the four new firemen — two from the Pacific Missile Range Facility Fire Department and two from Kauai Fire Department, and promotees — one from the fire department and one from the Ocean Safety Bureau.
Larry Feinstein (read about his latest “Cat Man Do” on his www.mindandthemotorcycle.com website) had to meet up with Michelle Rego to do a piece on the film commissioner.
Congratulations to Kapaa boys soccer coach Kevin Cram and Kauai girls soccer coach Chance Bukoski on earning the Central Pacific Bank Kauai Interscholastic Federation soccer titles! Island School girls soccer coach Colby Ayonon was helping with athletic director duties on Wednesday since the girls soccer season ended last Saturday. Now, when is states? And to Ron Motosue (his son is a coach with the Kapaa boys soccer), who was looking for grinds after Wednesday’s game — the Chicken Katsu (does it come with a Bowl option?) at L&L Barbecue is the bomb!
In the meantime, the weather guys are saying it’s going to be another jacket day on Friday before we get more moisture from another weather front that’s passing over us into next week.
Stay safe.
