Opeti ‘Siaosi Leiataua’ Ikimaka
Opeti “Siaosi Leiataua” Ikimaka, of Lihue, passed away on Dec. 30, 2024, at the age of 68. He was born on March 2, 1956, in Tonga and was a Pastor for the Church of Tonga.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ikimaka and Mele Makaafi, brother Lisiate Uaisele, sisters Velonika Pifeleti, Mahina Lavemai and Alisi Petelo.
Opeti is survived by his loving wife Melesungu Ikimaka, sons Paionia Tanginoa, Akauola Tea Ikimaka, Paea Ikimaka, Larry Ikimaka, daughters Sosina Ikimaka, Naomi Ikimaka Lepa, Lina Ikimaka, brothers Alifeleti Akau‘ola, Tau‘akipulu Ikimaka, sisters Elisa Foliaki, Loumaile‘I Nafualu Tu‘ionetoa, grandchildren Naki, Akauola, Benjamin Diessa, Naoleen, Jaazaniah Tatofi, Sosina, Siaosi, Tahina, Jasmine Tea, Melesungu, Moli Pahulu, Amaziah Siale, Paea Ikimaka, LinaTangi, Picetin, Leslie, Jeraea, Mele Ikimaka, Naomi, Larry, Elijah, Chenoa, Leah Ikimaka, Tino, Amalani, Anemalia, Lisimoni, Anitelu, Toa, Losaline, Nete Tanginoa, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A prayer service will be held on Thursday, Jan. 23, 2025, at 7 p.m. at the United Methodist Hall in Lihue. An overnight Celebration of Life will begin on Friday, Jan. 24, 2025, and continue into Saturday, Jan. 25, 2025, at the United Methodist Hall in Lihue. Visitation will begin at 7 p.m. on Jan. 24, 2025. Funeral services will begin on Jan. 25, 2025, at 9 a.m. and burial will follow at 1 p.m. at the Keapana-Kealia Cemetery.

Juanita Castro Locke
May 6, 1936 — November 3, 2024
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Juanita Castro Locke on Nov. 3, 2024, at the age of 88. Juanita, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home in Las Vegas, Nevada surrounded by her family.
Juanita was born on May 6, 1936, in Balangobong, Pangasinan, Philippines, to the late Esteban and Aurella Cayabyab. She spent many years as an employee of the Pacific Missile Range Facility at Barking Sands. She retired in August of 2003 with ITT Industries.
In 1961, Juanita married Remegio Castro Sr, with whom she shared 18 wonderful years of love, laughter, and memories until his untimely death. Together they had six children, Mark, Steve, Janice, Aileen, Randy and Kurt, who were her greatest joy. She later married George Locke, a wonderful husband of 34 years, who offered unwavering support, love, and companionship.
Juanita had a deep love of cooking and baking, filling the kitchen with aromas of her wonderful home cooked meals and baked goods. She cherished her family and friends deeply, and her absence will be felt profoundly in our lives.
Juanita is survived by her beloved husband George Locke, her children Mark Castro (Anita), Steve Castro (Trini), Janice Pavao (David), Randy Castro, Kurt Castro, her stepchildren Remegio Castro Jr. (Sofia), Roy Castro (Andrea), her six grandchildren Tennille Pavao, Travis Pavao, Mark Castro Jr. (Stephanie), Marjerie Castro, Maurice Castro, Camila Castro, her great-grandchildren Mark Castro III, Ezra Castro, her siblings Guillermo Cayabyab, Mel Cayabyab, Nieves Cayabyab, plus numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Teodulo Cayabyab and Eliope Cayabyab and daughter Aileen Castro.
A service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2025, at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Kekaha, Kauai. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., followed by a Celebration of Life from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The family requests Aloha attire.
Harry Akio Kakutani
Harry Akio Kakutani passed away on Nov. 25, 2024. Born on Aug. 15, 1944, Harry was raised in Lawai on Kauai. He was in the U.S. Army for three years, a journeyman in the Hawaii Carpenters’ Union for 10 years, and a carpentry instructor at Kauai Community College and for the Carpenters’ Union for 26 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife Shirley Lea Kakutani, brother Yasuo and sister Marsha.
He is survived by his sister Sachi (George) Mori, two sons Neil (Lauren), Andy (Terri), three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service is scheduled for 9 a.m. at the Kauai Community College Theater on Monday, Jan. 20, 2025.

Hedy L. Sullivan
Hedy “Hoa Aloha, Wife, Sister, Cousin, Mom, Mama, Aunty, Grandma, Tutu” Leilani Sullivan, 76, of Kekaha, Hawaii, died Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2024, at Wilcox Medical Center. She was born on May 15, 1948, in Honolulu, Hawaii, to Frederick and Rosaline Jarrett.
She is survived by her husband Papa Steven, sons Darin Alhanati (Anysia), Randy Rustick, siblings Jeraldine Tanemura (Wayne), Frederick Jarrett, 11 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, many other hanai children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
“O ke ola no i ka wai” – Life is in the water. Hedy has found peace, cradled by the ocean’s embrace and the eternal spirit of Aloha. Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy of love will forever light our hearts, a guiding star in the waters of our memories.
Plans for a celebration of life will be made and communicated at a later date.
