OK, it’s not all high school sports as the Kauai Historical Society hosts its highlight Muumuu Paina on Sunday from noon at the Smith’s Tropical Paradise. The event (tickets are still available online by visiting the Kauai Historical Society website at www.kauaihistoricalsociety.org) will focus on the “ancient craftsmanship” of Pupu Lei from Niihau and Kauai.

Congratulations to Wally Rezentes Jr. on getting a day named in his honor. The current assistant director of the county’s Department of Parks and Recreation is scheduled to move to the Big Island to take on a career with the Kamehameha Schools. Wally (Mayor Derek S.K. Kawakami said Wally started work with the county a few days before the mayor graduated) had devoted more than two decades of service to the county, and to agree with Mayor Kawakami, he will be missed.
Moving on, today is the Little Miso Book Mobile (Little Miso also appears on Wednesday mornings at Hale Lihue as Wee Wiggle from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.) that will pop up at the Old Koloa Town courtyard near Fresh Shave as part of the muumuu celebration starting at 10:30 a.m. … good reason to check into Sueoka’s and get some of those humongous li hing mui (somebody said they’ve got ‘em at the ABC Stores, too).
And then, it’s off to the K+M craft markets at the Kukui Grove on Saturday (squeeze ‘em in between KIF swimming, paddling and soccer) from 11 a.m. … support them, now … not wait like the Princeville farmers market.
