PRINCEVILLE — Everyone is invited to “Creating Harmony in the Community” on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Makai Event Lawn, located near the Grill at the Makai Golf Course in Princeville.
PRINCEVILLE — Everyone is invited to “Creating Harmony in the Community” on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Makai Event Lawn, located near the Grill at the Makai Golf Course in Princeville.
The event celebrating Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday will highlight the “magical guitar of Brynn Quick” and will be emceed by Tim Scrimpton of the Bahai Faith.
The event is billed as a community book swap with free books available. Donations of a book, or two, are greatly appreciated.
The Makai snack bar and grill will be open. Attendees are asked not to bring their own food and drink. However, people are allowed to bring their own chairs or blankets for seating on the lawn areas.
Steve Stream Backinoff will lead “Dance of Universal Peace,” and Steve Sobel will do an MLK Reading with musician Wayne Powell accompanying.
Other readers include Charles Woolfork of the Center for Spiritual Living, the Rev. Suzanne Kobayashi of the Episcopal Diocese, Ron Margolis of the Rotary Club of Hanalei, Eric Lucy of Hale Pule O Hanalei, Papa Lauae o Makana with Kumu Mauliola Cook, and Ron and Ann Garrison of the United Church of Christ, Hookipa Food Pantry.
There will also be folk dancing led by Luane McGowan.
