Casamero Florendo Sr.
Casamero Florendo Sr., of Kekaha, passed away at home on Oct. 31, 2024, at the age of 91. He was born on April 1, 1933, in Mana, Kauai. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret Florendo, son Ken Jonathan Florendo, parents Leoncio and Teodorica Pablo Florendo, brothers Jaime Florendo Sr., John Florendo Sr., Joseph Florendo Sr., sisters Serberina Asuncion and Trinidad Romero.
He is survived by his sons Casamero Florendo Jr. (Patricia) of Kekaha, Preston Florendo of Kapaa, Hamilton Florendo of Kalaheo, Kirk Florendo of Kekaha, daughters Corina Florendo of Honolulu, Natasha of Kekaha, three grandchildren, one great-grandchild, brother Alfonso Florendo of Kekaha, numerous nieces and nephews.
A service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 21, 2024, at the Hanapepe Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe beginning at 11 a.m. The family requests casual attire.

Benito Obiano
Benito Lomboy Obiano passed away peacefully on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2024, at Straub Medical Center at the age of 87. He was born on Oct. 23, 1937, in San Bonifacio, San Manuel, Pangasinan, Philippines, to the late Adolfo Mejia Obiano and Marcela Lomboy Alamani Obiano.
He was preceded in death by his wife Timotea “Mina” Guillermo Obiano, sister Beatriz “Naty” Obiano Garcia and half-siblings.
Benito is survived by his children Jesus “Jessie” (Juanita) Obiano, Josephine “Josie” (Benny) Baris, Eduardino “Eddie” (Lourdes) Obiano, grandchildren Brandon (Rizadel) Baris, Bradford (Hannah Im) Baris, Benedick Baris, Archer (Edna) Obiano, Aldrich Obiano, Andrew Obiano, Jonathan Obiano, great-grandchildren Zion Obiano, Xabiere Obiano, niece Shirley Wilkie, nephew Jeffrey Garcia, along with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
A funeral service to honor his life and legacy will be held on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2024, at St. Catherine Church in Kapaa. Viewing from 9 to 10:25 a.m., Mass at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Kealia Cemetery.

Collette Puamelia Tovi
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Collette Puamelia Tovi, our beloved Mom and Grandma.
Collette Puamelia Tovi, of Hanamaulu, returned to our Heavenly Father on Dec. 2, 2024, at the age of 88. She was born on April 29, 1936, in Honolulu. She was a loving homemaker.
She is joined in heaven by her husband Tevita Mafi Tovi, son Keith Asuncion, parents Carl and Carrie Lanning, sisters Cherie Mendes, Lorraine Lanning, Carrie Carvalho, Abigail Swain, Beatrice Swain, brothers Carl Lanning Jr., Earl Lanning, Theodore Lanning, Errol Lanning and Titus Swain.
She is survived by her children Wayne (Theresa) Asuncion, Crystel (Randy) Chong Tim Sr., Clayton Asuncion, grandchildren Keoni (Chanda) Kiilau, Cindy (Ashley) Romero, Tasha (Francis Galves Jr.) Asuncion, Calvin (Desiree) Kiilau, Clifford (Deedee) Kiilau, Clifton (Haley) Asuncion, Carrie (Chucky Balucan) Asuncion, Karla Asuncion, 28 great-grandchildren, sisters Valorry Lanning, Leslie Lanning and numerous nieces and nephews.

Vera Hirota
Vera Hirota, age 69, of Lihue, passed away on Nov. 13, 2024. She was a dedicated secretary with the State of Hawaii, Department of Land and Natural Resources.
Vera was preceded in death by her beloved husband Dennis Hirota, parents Clifford Ichimasa Sr. and Sumako Ichimasa.
She is survived by her children Stacie (Lee) Nishimura, Brandon (Kelsi) Hirota, Claire Hirota, eight cherished grandchildren, brothers Clifford Ichimasa Jr., Dean (Donna) Ichimasa, sister Cora Matsumura, sisters-in-law Karen Nakamura, Lynne (Larry) Iwanaga, numerous nieces and nephews.
A service to honor Vera’s life will be held on Dec. 21, 2024, at Borthwick Mortuary, Koloa. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m., followed by the service at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers or Koden, the family requests that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

Leocadia Miyajima
Leocadia Miyajima of Lihue, Kauai, passed away at home on Nov. 3, 2024, at the age of 96. She was born on Aug. 11, 1928, in Hilo, Hawaii. She was a music teacher.
Leocadia was preceded in death by parents Ah Kwan and Mary Lui-Kwan, husbands Allan Ezell, Mitsuo Miyajima, sisters Mary Lui-Kwan, Lydia Lui-Kwan, Veronica Lui-Kwan, Rosebella Lui-Kwan, Susanna Lui-Kwan, brothers Stephen Lui-Kwan, Anthony Lui-Kwan, Benedict Lui-Kwan, Lambert Lui-Kwan
She is survived by daughter Michele Ezell and grandaughter Nassim Pilialoha.
Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2024, at Lihue Baptist Church. Visitation begins at 9 a.m. with services following at 10 a.m.
