Mahalo, Gary Pacheco for the invitation to Kilauea Kalikimaka on Saturday where the beneficiary (no wonder they had fundraising items like the Kilauea Sugar shirts, and sales from CDs by the Kilauea Social Club and others benefited the fundraiser) is the group working to improve the Plantation Park, the small location where previous Kilauea Kalikimaka were held … no wonder they call Gary the mayor of Kilauea.

Who would’ve known Lareina Kamalani, Larisa Nebre and Laurie Sadanaga have been making Kilauea Noodle Co. noodles (mahalo for the box of samples) since 2015, the first time Kilauea Kalikimaka was held at the Kilauea Park (it’s the one behind the Kilauea Neighborhood Center). Mr. P said those are hard to get, even if you hook up through Instagram (and we’re not giving out the phone number because you never know who’s out there waiting to make humbug).
And where is Eden? Terri Kaniho and her Gather Federal Credit Union (they’ve got a Kilauea branch) ohana had fun distributing Terri’s favorite wristband, and no one answered in the rain on Friday night when the Gather crew was garbed in the 70th anniversary shirts during the Rotary Club of Kauai Lights on Rice holiday parade … Shelley Paik of Kauai Island Utility Company was busy decorating for Kilauea Kalikimaka, and Beth Amaro told her it was raining.
Kudos to the North Shore Lions (Gary is a Lion!) for being part of the Kilauea ohana, and the hot cocoa tasted really good, too … perfect for keeping the eyes open for the drive back to the Polynesian Hall of Fame football clinic that was coordinated by former mayor Bernard Carvalho Jr., Sen. Lynn DeCoite who wanted to spread the love, and Stephanie Iona and company.
