Kudos to the Agency on Elderly Affairs (new Executive on Aging Emily Ishida, and new Kauai RSVP Director Andrea Alfiler!) and ohana (Kauai RSVP said they could’ve done refreshments for all those hard workers, including the Department of Water crew that was working to fix a leak at the historic County Building lawn, who scrambled in the wind and misty rains to get the park ready for the holidays) … the 24th Recognition luncheon was a great way to demonstrate appreciation and acknowledgment for all the work RSVP volunteers (they’re a part of the Senior AmeriCorps!) do for the government, and the community! The luncheon also coincided with the United Nations’ International Volunteer Day!

OK, don’t forget … today is the craft fair component at the Grove Farm Market (the Master Gardeners, they’re regular weekly vendors, have a fertilizer presentation, and the appearance of Yawadee Srimake-Yadao as part of the excitement) … Marlene Duarte of Grove Farm said they’ve gotten confirmation from more than 40 vendors who will be offering holiday gift ideas and other unique items.
And, if you’re looking for Santa and Mrs. Claus other than Santa’s Hale at the Kukui Grove Center, the Kauai Made program has Santa booked along with more than 40 vendors at the Holly Jolly festival that takes place at the Outrigger Kauai Beach Resort that should be fully decorated with the holiday bling spearheaded by Robert Ancheta. Is Chef Mark Sassone planning on a special Holly Jolly offering, too?
Further North (on Kauai), the mayor of Kilauea, Gary Pacheco, said Kilauea will be celebrating the start of the holiday season at the Kilauea Park (that’s the field behind the Kilauea Neighborhood Center) starting at 4 p.m. Will the Kilauea Social Club be doing Christmas carols like how they used to at the Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital Christmas with Josey Pablo?
