“The Rhythm of the Falling Rain” was good for Carlynn Ledward on Saturday night as ukulele maestro Adrinne Guerrero said Carlyn spruced up her rendering with her unique ukulele styling to win the Kala mahogany tenor uke during the ukulele contest offered during the monthly Downtown Lihue Night Market where Stan’s Kauai Style Flying Saucers didn’t miss a beat after relocating his street style cookery (only on Kauai!) from the day-long Ace Housemart Holiday Craft Fair at the Kauai War Memorial Convention Hall.

More ukulele stylings blossomed in the blustery afternoon and evening punctuated with bouts of orographic precipitation as Mary Lardizabal and the Kapaa Middle School Choir and Ukulele Band prefaced the monthly “Lilo and Stitch” movie night (how creative can you get with the free Turkey Call make-it-and-take-it activity?).
This was Aunty Mary’s first showing of the Kapaa Middle School program that features more than 200 aspiring performers who are preparing for their free holiday performances that will be accompanied by their parent booster club supporters and a cadre of community vendors…watch for their scheduled appearances.
The weekend (how many of you braved the rains blowing down from the Kalaheo plateau to enjoy Hanapepe’s Biggest Little Carnival?) marked the start of a promising dynamic holiday season when the St. Michael’s and All Angels Church hosts its holiday craft fair and baked goods event on Saturday from 9 a.m. among all of the other upcoming weekend events.
Thank you for your service, military! Happy Veterans Day!
