LIHUE — The YWCA of Kauai and its community partners, including Hoike Kauai Community Television, KKCR Kauai Community Radio, the Kauai Planning and Action Alliance and the Zonta Club of Kauai will be hosting a two-day community forum on Oct. 2 and 3 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Kauai War Memorial Convention Hall.
The public, and especially residents who are concerned about “critical issues for women, children and the Kauai community” are invited to attend and hear the candidates for Kauai County Council.
The candidates will speak on questions that have been asked by voters and posted online at ywahinevote.org. Questions and concerns will continue to be collected at the website through election day.
Due to the number of candidates vying for the seven positions available on the Kauai County Council, and to allow each candidate sufficient time to respond to people, the forum is presented on two separate days.
Additionally, the forum will be livestreamed on Kauai Community Radio KKCR on both days. Hoike Community Television will replay the forum in the weeks leading up to election day. Recordings will also be available on the at www.ywahinevote.org.
Candidates scheduled to appear on Wednesday include Bernard Carvalho, Fern Anuenue Holland, Arryl Kaneshiro, Butch Keahiolalo, Mel Rapozo and Bart Thomas.
Candidates scheduled to appear on Thursday include Abraham Apilado Jr., Addison Bulosan, Felicia Cowden, Billy DeCosta and KipuKai Kualii.
