Kaua‘i Society of Artists member Yana Shayne (this is the last week to experience the KSA Spring Show that closes on Friday in the KSA gallery at Kukui Grove Center in Lihu‘e) was thrilled one of her illuminated stained glass pieces sold while she did gallery sitting duty ahead of the opening of The Pineapple Store (Chucky Boy Chock said Christian Marston of Tahiti Nui is in charge of it) on Sunday afternoon and evening (was supposed to have three bands?).

Jana said she had six pieces at that event, where Darlene Lott of Pouring on Kaua‘i (yes, it came down in buckets in Wailua on Monday afternoon) was supposed to have her resin art.

Na Hoku Hanohano Award winners Kekai “Chockie” Chock and Conrad “Kona” Giminiz were entertaining shoppers (is it the spring break crowd) at the Wailua Bay Creators Fair at the Hilton Garden Inn Kaua‘i Wailua Bay, where Jessica Clabo of Rainbow Wave Art was entertaining friend Kara Morgan visiting from Minnesota.

Juliet Kaohelauli‘i of the Kaua‘i konane store (officially known as Soul Mates, or HawaiianCheckers.com) said her relatives in Oregon start their brek this week.

Kapa‘a High School graduates Noelani Hummel of Repurpose Kaua‘i, and Sequoia Leech of Sequoia Maye Designs turned “ugly situations pretty (it wasn’t raining or blowing!)” and Kamalani Lovell (and we missed Carol Lovell again?) of Lovelly Sea said the lures by Hunter Cabral work because she snagged a good-sized papio.

So, what’s with The Kaua‘i 50 trail race presented by Kaua‘i Coffee on Aug. 5? Natalie Nishioka of Nataliearth (Jock Goodman was also at the Wailua Bay Creators Fair) said there’s a $15,000 prize for the top finishers. Check it out at thekauai50.com.
